Why Choose a Real Broadcaster Over an Actor Doing an Announcer Voice?
Ever notice that most "sports announcers" in movies and commercials don't sound very good? That's because they're usually actors pretending to be broadcasters.
I'm different because I've been doing the real thing for two decades. I’ve called baseball, soccer, basketball, hockey, football, volleyball, and softball on TV and radio.
I've called Major League Baseball for the Oakland A's. I’ve had the World Feed call for the Copa America Final, World Cup Qualifying, and been on FS1. I was featured in the New York Times for my broadcasting work. And my classic announcer voice was featured in Budweiser's tribute to Jackie Robinson.
When you hire me, you're getting authentic broadcast energy…not an impersonator.
My “Old-Time Announcer” voice was featured in Budweiser’s tribute to Jackie Robinson (:48-:57)
I did the play-by-play for this Adidas commercial with Patrick Mahomes (“Ohhh!”, “Mahomes…what a throw! TOUCHDOWN!” from :09-:13)
I worked with Netflix’s Tudum official fansite to voice this fun thumb-wrestling promo for their “Wrestlers” show

Frequently asked questions:
Why should I choose you over other voiceover artists?
Ever notice that most “sports announcers” in movies and commercials don’t sound very good? That’s because they usually aren’t actual sports broadcasters. They’re actors who are trying to pretend.
I’m different, because I’ve been doing the real thing for over a decade. I’ve called baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, football, volleyball, softball, and I’ve done it on TV and radio. When you hire me, you're getting authentic broadcast energy…not an actor trying to imitate what they think an announcer sounds like. My voice was featured in Budweiser's Jackie Robinson 100th Birthday tribute, and the New York Times has profiled my broadcasting work.
I’m also versatile. I love doing all kinds of announcer-voices, and people love my work.
How much do announcer voiceovers cost?
Every project is unique, so pricing varies based on your specific needs. Most of my clients for announcer voiceovers are parents planning youth sports events, wedding planners, or corporate event managers…and their projects range from simple lineup announcements to elaborate multi-part intros. Email me at Donny@Donnyvoice.com with details about your project, and I'll provide a customized quote within 24 hours.
What’s your turnaround time?
For most announcer voiceover projects, my standard turnaround is 48-72 hours after script approval. Rush delivery (24 hours or same-day) is available for urgent projects. Wedding announcements typically need more lead time for script review and client approval…I recommend booking at least 2 weeks before your event.
What announcer voice styles can you perform?
I specialize in several distinct announcer styles:
- Modern Sports PA Announcer: High-energy lineup announcements and game-day intros
- Classic Radio Announcer (1940s-50s): Vintage, golden-age radio voice for period pieces
- Boxing Ring Announcer: Over-the-top, dramatic fight night introductions
- Professional Broadcaster: Warm, authentic sports broadcasting voice (think MLB, NBA, college sports)
- Corporate Event Announcer: Polished, professional conference and award ceremony style Listen to my demo reels above to hear examples of each style.
Do you write scripts, or do I need to provide one?
I can work either way! Many clients come with fully written scripts, which is great. For wedding announcements and youth sports lineups, I can help you structure the content and suggest what typically works well. For corporate events, I usually recommend you provide the script since you know your company's messaging best—but I'm happy to offer suggestions for pacing and delivery style.
What file formats do you deliver?
I deliver high-quality WAV files (broadcast standard) and MP3 files (for easy sharing and web use). If you need a specific format for your venue's sound system or video editor, just let me know—I can accommodate most format requests.
Can you match the energy/style of a specific announcer I like?
Absolutely! If you have a reference track or can describe the style you're going for, that helps me dial in exactly what you need. Whether you want "professional sports broadcaster," "over-the-top wrestling announcer," or "subtle vintage radio voice," I can adjust my delivery to match your vision.
How does the process work?
Here's my typical workflow:
1. Initial Contact: Email me at Donny@Donnyvoice.com with your project details
2. Quote & Timeline: I'll send you pricing and turnaround within 24 hours
3. Script Review: You send me your script (or we collaborate on creating one)
4. Recording: I record your voiceover in my professional home studio
5. Review: You listen and request any adjustments needed
6. Final Delivery: I send you the finished files in your preferred formats Most projects are completed within 3-5 days from start to finish.
Where are you located? Do you work with clients outside your area?
I'm based in Florida but work with clients nationwide and internationally. All of my voiceover work is done remotely from my professional home studio. Whether you're planning a wedding in California, a youth sports event in Texas, or a corporate conference in New York, I can deliver high-quality announcer voiceovers digitally.
